ABOUT
Born in 1955, Janet Treby grew up in a small village in Bedfordshire, England. From an early age, Treby knew she wanted to be an artist and was encouraged by her parents to study Fine Art Printmaking at West Surrey College of Art and Design. Following the completion of her studies at college, Treby went on to study for a postgraduate degree in Printmaking at the Slade School of Art, where she specialised in mezzotint, etching, and serigraphy to illustrate the human form.

She went on to join the London Contemporary Art of Chelsea, and throughout the 80s and 90s made her name internationally with her paintings and prints of ethereal figures. During this period in her career, her work showcased from Tokyo to Moscow, London and more where she amassed awards and recognition. Alongside this, Treby has also enjoyed a career of teaching and lecturing at her previous college in addition to many others, from the Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford to Barnfield College in Luton.

Following her success, Treby expanded her career by exploring nature in her artworks. Moving to Cornwall, Treby reacquainted herself with nature and rural life she had grown up with as a child and has since used it as an inspiration for her works.

Treby now resides in Norfolk, with her family and pets. Her current work explores the beauty of nature, capturing the flora and fauna she is surrounded by.
